Iftekhar Al Huda
A passionate and committed student, I am in my fourth year of studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Communications at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops. I am originally from Bangladesh but have embraced British Columbia’s heritage and beauty and have lived and studied in Canada for four years.
My experience working at Domino’s Sahali, Romeo’s Kitchen + Spirits, and Katch Craft Dining polished me in relating with different groups of people. I have developed my skills to converse effectively and with empathy in high pressure situations, be it recommending a selection of craft beers to inquisitive customers, navigating high price orders for such events as a Bryan Adams concert in Kamloops, or training new employees, and have learned the value of quick adaptation, stress management, and establishing positive work environments through team building skills applied to crafting effective story and strategy in my communications research.
What Makes Me Unique
My multicultural heritage, combined with real-world experience in high-energy environments, positions me to approach communications with creativity and cultural sensitivity. Outside of work, I recharge with a combination of hiking BC’s trails, swimming, and working out a balancing act that keeps my curiosity and energy up.
Whether deconstructing communications strategies or crafting stories, I’m skilled at bringing ideas to life, conversation by conversation.
As I approach graduation, I am propelled by a bold dream: marrying my communications and hospitality skills with Toronto’s vibrant food scene. My vision is to partner with Toronto’s leading restaurants and pubs, leveraging my multicultural understanding, sophisticated service, and skill to establish long-term relationships and enhance the experience of guests. Ultimately, I look forward to putting my skills to use in opening up my own venue one that celebrates global cuisine, community, and those raucous, high energy experiences such as a concert with Bryan Adams, where each detail is crafted to please. Toronto’s diversity and pace of life appear the perfect setting to make my dream a reality, one dish (or drink) at a time. While maintaining my dream I also wish to pursue my bachelor of laws degree after I move to Toronto.
